Welcome to the web site of St. Francis In-The-Fields Episcopal Church. We are a community striving to be grounded in Christ, rooted in the Anglican tradition, and filled with the spirit of St Francis of Assisi, whose passionate love for God and for all of God's creation inspired all who came near him.
Stewardship News
By now everyone should have received a stewardship packet containing information about the Every Member Canvas. Our theme this year is We are St. Francis. We want each person to consider what it means to be a part of a worshipping, learning, serving and loving community. You can bring your pledge cards to church on Sunday and put them in the basket in the Narthex, or you can mail them back. We hope to have all the pledge cards returned by Sunday, November 16th. St. Francis Church has been greatly blessed through your generosity. Thank you for your willingness to give of yourselves to further the ministry of this church.
Safeguarding God's Children
Many of our Vestry, Sunday School teachers and youth leaders have experienced teh course provided by the church on preventing child abuse---Safeguarding God's Children. This course is now available online! If you would like to take the course, please contact Laura Gronski at the church office and she'll set you up!
United Thank Offering Ingathering
November 22 and 23 are the dates for the fall UTO ingathering. All the offerings of coins, bills and checks from St. Francis are sent to the Diocese. The Diocese sends the offerings from St. Francis and from other congregations in the diocese who participate to the national UTO committee. Other diocese in the Episcopal Chruch do the same. The National UTO Committee awards all of the offerings in grants of the benefit of others.
The United Thank Offerings' new vision for the 21st centuary builds upon the core values of thanksgiving, generosity, mission, and ministry, and upon UTO's mission to expand the circle of thankful people. The UTO's new vision continues the historic mission to address compleing human need and expand the mission and ministry of the church.
UTO is over and above the pledge or tithe any of us makes to our church. We are grateful for God's presence in our lives. The UTO offering is a symbol of our daily prayers of thanksgiving to God.
Thanksgiving Services
St. Francis celebrated Thanksgiving in a big way on November 1st at our Harvest Festival and dinner. The holiday itself will be much quieter here, but we will celebrate the Eucharist twice on Thanksgiving----at 7pm on Wensday evening and at 10:30am on Thanksgiving morning.
