While you might not have heard much from us lately, the Search Committee has been busy. The listing for the Rector position went online at the national Church Deployment office in May, and we have begun receiving profiles and resumes of candidates from Canon Kissinger in the Diocese Transition Office.

This is now the confidential stage of the search process. We will be reviewing candidate files and reading essay applications through July.   By August we will be working with a shorter list of candidates and start meeting with them via telephone interviews and, in the fall, on-site meetings.

While we cannot discuss names, locations, or any specific details of the candidates, we want to keep the Parish informed of the process. Thank you for all your prayers and support as we continue moving forward on this important task of selecting the next Rector of St. Francis.

History: On May 31, 2009 the Rev. Sandi Michels retired after being Rector of St. Francis-in-the-Fields for 22 years. According to Episcopal Church procedure, the lay leadership of the church (the vestry) hired an Interim Rector, the Rev. Kate Cullinane, and appointed a committee of parishioners to carry out a search for a new permanent Rector. The Search Committee is making good progress in this careful process.

The committee has just completed a series of focus groups designed to collect information from parishioners about visions of the future and thoughts about a new permanent Rector. Additionally, the search committee has designed a survey to collect information in yet another way. Results of this information gathering will allow the search committee to design a parish profile which will show potential candidates who we are as a congregation and what are goals are for the future.

Check back to this site often for updates on the process. Although confidentiality requires that specific details may not be shared, the search committee will keep the parish fully apprised of where we are in the process.
