The Rev. Kate Cullinane became the Interim Rector of St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church on June 1, 2009. She will help guide the pari
sh during the transition time, until a new Rector is called. In addition to her parish duties, she also serves as a Chaplain at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She also chairs the Social Responsibility in Investments Committee for the national Episcopal Church and is a member of the Commission on the State of the Church, as well as a member of the Diocese of Indianapolis’s Global Mission and Investment & Finance committees. Before coming to our parish and St. Vincent Hospital, she served as the Associate Dean and Canon Missioner at Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and theology from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, and her M.Div. and S.T.M. (Spiritual Direction) from The General Theological Seminary, New York. She served for 12 years as Rector of St. Mary’s, Los Angeles, a primarily Japanese-American and Belizean congregation in the Koreatown are of L.A. She has spent all of her 23 years of full-time professional ministry in multi-cultural contexts as religion teacher, hospital administrator, director of a homeless ministry, and executive director of a refugee resettlement agency. She also served as campus minister and HIV/AIDS education coordinator at Makerere University in Uganda. She enjoys cooking, gardening and spending time with friends.
